Win a copy of FM2008 - just play and write a story.
The new story competition started in Dezember 2006 and will last until the new versions of FM and CM are announced.
You can write two different kind of stories: a “free” one without any restrictions, but also an LLM story, following the basic rules of LLM.

There will be up to 10 copies (5 of each game) to win.
Join in and apply for the competition now.

So just in being part of the competition can win you a copy of FM2008, as there will be also 3 lucky winners.
There is a application thread inside the forum FM/CM 2007 Story Competition in which you can apply for the competition.

Some of the new features are looking very promissing, such as the new scout module, but also the new way, youth players are promoted. The youth academy will buy youth players from other clubs, instead of just promoting unknown youths from the own academy. The feeder club feature is also something that could be useful for LLM and career games - but as all the rest, it depends on how good (and realistic) the new features are implemented.

I hope that scouting will come to a better level, as I was never impressed or satisfied with that part of the game. CM2006 offers a better scouting system in my opinion, so it might be also the new competitor that did focus SI on parts that were not much touched and modified in the past 2 or 3 years.

The competition was possibly also the reason why CM2007 will come with teamtalks - in a similar way as FM2007. You will be able to talk before, in halftime and after a game to your players. There is also a new match analysis tool, but not much of explanation what it will offer to us.
But it looks like that the competition between SI and EIDOS is something we benefit in the long term.

There is a new forum available in which LLMaddicted is starting a new LLM challenge. It’s for all the people who want to play their first LLM games, but also for the once who like to play a short challenge next to their career games. It’s also a good way to read about the various leagues that are playable in the games.
The rules are simple:
Every league can only be played once. If you get the sack, you have to start another game with another league active. You can play either FM or CM.
Start a new game with just one league active. It has to be a league that is not already played.
Choose a club from the lowest available division and start the game.
Post the updates in the one league challenge forum. The league name has to be part of the update title.
Play as long as you like, but of you get the sack, the game is finished and you have to start with another available league.

The most important rule or guideline is simple, but tricky:
Try to play the game as realistic as possible and do not cheat in any way.
Start in the lowest possible division, scout players you are interested in, try to make a career with all the downs and ups that are part of a real career.
Ask yourself before doing something (like sending a scout to South America) would it be a realistic task for that club in real football?
